The track is the lead single off the K-pop star's new EP 'Decoherence'
Korean-American pop star AleXa rings in the one-year anniversary of her debut with a brand new EP titled Decoherence. The record is led by the powerful new single “Revolution” and its action-packed, otherworldly music video.
In the visuals for “Revolution,” AleXa continues her arc as powerful cyborg gearing up to take over the world. Filled with thrilling fight sequences, the clip shows the singer battle her way to freedom from the evil ‘ZB Corp’ that created her. Initially trapped and suspended in a tank of liquid, AleXa finds the strength to break out and lead a literal revolution. Interspersing breathtaking visuals of AleXa roaming the post-apocalyptic, barren world with scenes of her performing fierce choreography, “Revolution” is a strong conclusion to the visual storyline that began with “Bomb” and continued in “Do Or Die.”
Produced by British duo LDN Noise, the track is an upbeat and victorious blend of hip-hop, Latin pop and synth. Co-written by AleXa, the lyrics promise that she can lead those who follow her to a better, brighter future no matter how high the stakes are. She’s determined to be free and be herself and encourages listeners to do the same as she says, “Come and join, come and join the revolution/Revolution/Enemies closing in/They keep closing in/But hey Imma never giving in/I keep marching to the beat/Of my own drum/No no stopping till I get my freedom.”
Decoherence comprises a total of eight tracks (including the hidden track “Allegory of the Cave”,) most of them co-written by AleXa and producer Hwang Sungjin of RBW (home label to Mamamoo and Oneus), and sees the singer experiment with new sounds, including the heartfelt, soaring ballad “Moon and Back.” The EP marks the conclusion of the the K-pop star’s highly successful AI storyline and concept which made waves last year for its originality.
In the one year since her debut, AleXa broke into the top 10 of Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales Chart with “Bomb,” signed with ICM Partners ( Nicki Minaj and Khalid) for a global debut, and was crowned the 2020 winner of the ‘New K-Wave Next Artist’ category at the Soribada Best K-Music Awards.
