Chungha in the music video for "Play."

South Korean singer Chungha dropped a brand new single titled “Play” earlier today and a vibrant music video to go along with it. The track is the follow-up to the pop diva’s April release “Stay Tonight” and May’s “My Friend,” which featured prominent Korean rapper Zion.T and rising star pH-1.

“Play” showcases a major contrast to the dark, glittery and house led “Stay Tonight,” as Chungha takes a dive into bright, upbeat Latin pop to bring in a summer vibe. Both the track and the video are heavily inspired by Latin culture; the visuals feature striking scenes of Chungha as a matador–only fighting a Ferrari instead of a bull–as well as a sequence of her performing the salsa with a dancer. As a whole the clip can be described as a buffet of color and choreography and like in her music video for “Stay Tonight,” Chungha gives her backup dancers a large amount of screen-time, allowing them to show off their individual skills.

The track features Korean hip-hop star Changmo, who shares lyrical and composing duties, and is about an exciting secret encounter between two lovers. The lyrics are suggestive but playful with hidden references to Chungha’s previous tracks “Gotta Go,” “Remedy” and “Stay Tonight” hidden between verses.

Like “Stay Tonight,” “Play” is a pre-release single from Chungha’s upcoming untitled album.
