Watch Komorebi and Curtain Blue Dodge Paparazzi in ‘Birds & Bees’ Video

Over the years that New Delhi’s electronica artists Komorebi aka Tarana Marwah and Curtain Blue aka Abhishek Bhatia have got together, there’s a visual and sonic language they share. We heard it on their 2022 EP Birds and Bees and now the playful title track gets a glitzy visual via fashion house Satya Paul, with an assist from producer Grain aka Gaurav Raina.

In the music video helmed by cinematographer Tsundue, the artists are decked in distinctly vibrant clothes from the Satya Paul collection New Order, which is described as a take on the Art Nouveau movement and designed by Satya Paul creative director Rajesh Pratap Singh. Komorebi and Curtain Blue start off in a getaway car avoiding paparazzi, eventually making their way to a club venue to jump around for a performance.

Marwah says about the making of the video, “Rajesh wanted to capture the journey of an artist all the way from the studio to the stage and what comes after, and he felt our single captured the energy of the collection and the concept.” Although the producer-singers have been known to collaborate and released the single “Green Tea” in 2020 and a cover of Billie Eilish’s “Bury A Friend,” there’s a new dynamic heard on “Birds & Bees,” with Komorebi’s low rap-like verse and Curtain Blue incorporating more hooks.

The music video places them in a wholly different setting, one with models and teeming crowds and the energy of a live show. “The shoot pushed both Abhishek and I out of our comfort zones into a newer, more confident creative space,” she adds.
