Perp, Tiana Tara, Varun Agnihotri – “Weatherman”
Mumbai-based artists – singer-songwriter Perp, vocalist Tiana Tara (from alternative jazz/R&B band Peach Envy) and producer-singer and guitarist Varun Agnihotri – have teamed up on the R&B-laced track “Weatherman.” The song features some scrumptious vocals and harmonies from Perp and Tara. Agnihotri, on his part, delivers slinky guitar melodies that stand out over smooth production that sit just right with the vocals. With a story-driven music video written by Perp and Tara to follow, the artists said in a statement, “‘Weatherman’ is a song about love being like an oscillating pendulum. It’s the journey of a girl who feels a lot and thinks she’s over a guy until she sees him again and falls back into the same cycle. It’s the story of how some people in our lives just have an undeniable pull on us and bring out extremes of emotion within us, much like the extremes in nature and the changing weather.”
Avanti Singh, Hersh Desai – “Drip Drip”
Mumbai-bred and Boston-based singer-songwriter Avanti Singh called upon producer Hersh Desai to work on her latest single, the atmospheric pop tune titled “Drip Drip.” The bilingual Singh sings in both English and Hindi over the course of the song and showcases her honeyed vocals, while Desai weaves in his production sensibilities with percussive elements, embellished sonic textures and an overall polished finish. According to the artists, the song is about “situationships” and everything that comes with being in one.
Niyati Handa, Pranshu Jha – “Sohneya”
New Delhi-bred and Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Niyati Handa has launched a melancholic pop song called “Sohneya.” The track – produced by Pranshu Jha – leaves a wistful feeling upon hearing it as Handa’s emotive vocals and poignant lyrics strike a chord. In a statement, the singer said, “‘Sohneya’ is a song about longing for love. It’s about the loneliness and anxiety one goes through, when our loved ones leave us stranded at the door. This song is very personal to me.”
